Cabanes en Fête: Andernos-les-Bains vibrates to the rhythm of the Bay !
A must-see event in December
On Saturday, December 6, Andernos-les-Bains once again celebrated Cabanes en Fête. This is one of the most iconic events in the Arcachon Bay area. Cabanes en Fête is a unique event that celebrates authenticity and the local way of life.
On the menu: good vibes...
Under a bright winter sun and a friendly atmosphere, the oyster huts in the port welcomed nearly 20,000 visitors who came together to enjoy oysters, white wine, and good vibes!
Local producers
Throughout the day, the oyster huts welcomed visitors in a cheerful atmosphere for tastings. You could treat your taste buds to oysters and wines from the Entre-Deux-Mers region. Or you could choose from a selection of tapas, soups, and other culinary delights to enjoy on site or while strolling along the quays. This event was also an opportunity to meet and chat with local producers.
Music
As we strolled along the quays, we came across lively bandas and orchestras. They invited us to dance and sing along with them to traditional sea shanties and well-known songs from the Southwest.
And cooking shows
In addition, under the big top, renowned chefs invited us to share their culinary secrets during a cooking demonstration. The theme of the dishes centered around oysters and Entre-Deux-Mers wine. Participants also had the opportunity to taste the combinations prepared during the show. The menu for this edition included “Oyster tartare, shallot cream, and tapioca with pear juice and watercress foam.” Other dishes included “Smoked oysters with pine needles, clementine, and burnt chestnuts,” “Oyster tartare with cubes of poultry terrine and mustard condiment,” and “Lightly poached oysters with leche del tigre and daikon pickle.”

For those who haven’t had the chance to attend, Cabanes en Fête is an unmissable annual event held in early December. It’s an opportunity to discover the authentic spirit of the Arcachon Basin: the taste of seafood, the simplicity of interactions, and a love for the region.
And for this occasion, you can proudly wear the colors of the cabanes en fêtes, with terracotta taking center stage this year.
